Recurrent UTI (बार-बार होने वाला मूत्र संक्रमण)

What is Recurrent UTI

If a person gets UTI 2 or more times in 6 months, or 3 or more times in a year, it is called Recurrent UTI.

  • It is very common, especially in women, due to anatomical and hormonal reasons.
  • In men, it may indicate prostate problems or other underlying urinary tract conditions.

Causes

  • Short urethra in women → bacteria travel easily.
  • Poor genital hygiene or use of contaminated toilets.
  • Sexual activity (commonly triggers UTIs in women).
  • Incomplete emptying of bladder → urine stasis encourages bacteria.
  • Kidney stones or structural abnormalities.
  • Diabetes → high sugar = bacterial growth.
  • Weakened immunity.
  • Men → enlarged prostate, causing blockage.

Symptoms

Recurrent UTI has same symptoms as acute UTI, but keeps coming back:

  • Burning sensation while urinating (dahak ke sath peshab).
  • Frequent urge to urinate, even at night.
  • Pain in lower abdomen or back.
  • Cloudy, foul-smelling urine.
  • Sometimes fever, tiredness, or blood in urine.

Risks if Ignored

  • Can damage bladder and kidneys over time.
  • Increases risk of chronic kidney infection.
  • Can disturb quality of life due to frequent discomfort.

Homeopathic Perspective

In Homeopathy, recurrent UTI is not just infection, it shows constitutional weakness or imbalance. Treatment aims to:

  • Correct the root tendency of repeated infections.
  • Strengthen bladder and kidney health.
  • Improve immunity and prevent recurrences.

Some important remedies (individualized):

  • Staphysagria – UTIs after sexual activity, burning after urination.
  • Cantharis – intense burning before, during, after urination.
  • Sepia – in women with pelvic weakness, frequent unnoticed infections.
  • Sarsaparilla – burning at the end of urination, frequent infections.
  • Nitric Acid – chronic UTIs with offensive urine smell.

Precautions

  • Drink 8–10 glasses of water daily.
  • Empty bladder fully; don’t hold urine for long.
  • Wash genital area properly after urination/sexual activity.
  • Avoid excessive tea, coffee, alcohol, which irritate bladder.
  • Cotton undergarments and proper hygiene.
  • Diabetic patients must keep sugar levels under control.
  • Regular check-ups if UTIs repeat often.

Summary

Recurrent UTI = repeated urinary tract infections due to weak defense, hygiene issues, diabetes, or structural causes.
Homeopathy offers a constitutional approach to break this cycle and prevent recurrence, while also relieving burning and frequent urination.
