Lung Cancer
What is Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is a disease where abnormal cells grow uncontrollably in the lungs, forming tumors.
It can block airways, spread to nearby tissues, or travel to other organs like the brain, liver, or bones.
Types
- Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) – most common (about 85%).
- Subtypes: Adenocarcinoma, Squamous cell carcinoma, Large cell carcinoma.
2.. Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) – fast-growing, more aggressive, spreads quickly.
Causes / Risk Factors
- Smoking – most important cause.
- Secondhand smoke exposure.
- Air pollution / occupational hazards (asbestos, radon, chemicals).
- Genetic factors – family history of lung cancer.
- History of lung disease – chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis.
- Older age – usually >50 years.
Symptoms
- Persistent cough (more than 2-3 weeks).
- Coughing blood or rust-colored sputum.
- Shortness of breath or wheezing.
- Chest pain – may worsen with deep breathing or coughing.
- Frequent lung infections – pneumonia or bronchitis.
- Hoarseness and fatigue.
- Unexplained weight loss and loss of appetite.
- In advanced stages: swelling of face/neck (superior vena cava syndrome).
Complications
- Spread to other organs – brain, bones, liver, adrenal glands.
- Pleural effusion – fluid around lungs causing breathlessness.
- Airway blockage → difficulty breathing.
- Recurrent infections.
Homeopathic Perspective
Homeopathy treats the whole person – not just the tumor.
Goals:
- Relieve cough, chest pain, breathlessness, and fatigue.
- Improve appetite and immunity.
- Support overall energy and strength.
- Reduce side effects of conventional treatment like chemotherapy or radiation.
Commonly considered remedies (individualized by case):
- Arsenicum album – persistent cough, burning, anxiety.
- Phosphorus – chest tightness, weakness, bleeding tendency.
- Carcinosin – family history of cancer or slow-growing tumors.
- Chelidonium – liver involvement, right-sided chest issues.
- Sulphur – chronic cough, inflammation, burning sensations.
- Kali carb – breathing difficulty, night-time cough.
(Only a qualified homeopath can select the proper remedy after detailed case analysis.)
