Ovarian Cysts

What is Ovarian Cysts

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop on or inside the ovary.
They are very common in women of reproductive age and are often harmless, disappearing on their own.

Types of Ovarian Cysts

  1. Functional Cysts (most common, usually harmless)
  • Follicular cyst – when the follicle does not release the egg.
  • Corpus luteum cyst – when the follicle releases the egg but fluid remains.

2. Pathological Cysts (less common, may need treatment)

  • Dermoid cysts (mature teratomas) – contain tissue like hair, skin, teeth.
  • Endometriomas – caused by endometriosis, filled with dark blood (“chocolate cysts”).
  • Cystadenomas – grow from the outer surface of ovary, can be large.

  • Pulsatilla – cysts with delayed/irregular periods, emotional, weeping tendency.
  • Sepia – bearing-down sensation, irregular cycles, cysts with hormonal imbalance.
  • Thuja – cysts with history of suppressed discharges or warts, PCOD tendency.

(Remedy is always selected based on full case-taking.)

Lifestyle & Precautions

  • Healthy diet – avoid junk, fried, and sugary foods; add fresh fruits, veggies, omega-3s.
  • Maintain ideal weight – obesity worsens cysts and PCOS.
  • Exercise regularly – yoga, walking, strength training.
  • Stress control – meditation, pranayama, sound sleep.
  • Regular check-ups – ultrasound when advised to monitor cyst size.

With proper constitutional homeopathic treatment, many women experience relief in pain, cycle regulation, and gradual reduction/absorption of cysts without surgery.
