What is Diabetes & Dyslipidemia (Cholesterol / Lipid Problems)
Many diabetic patients also have abnormal cholesterol and lipid levels – this condition is called Diabetic Dyslipidemia.
It increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries).
What happens in Diabetic Dyslipidemia
- ↑ Triglycerides (high)
- ↓ HDL (good cholesterol) (low)
- ↑ LDL (bad cholesterol) (small, dense particles that damage arteries)
This combination is very dangerous for the heart and blood vessels.
Causes
Insulin resistance (common in Type 2 diabetes)
- Obesity and sedentary lifestyle
- Poor diet (junk food, fried/oily food, excess carbs)
- Genetic tendency
Symptoms
Often no symptoms until complications develop. But sometimes:
- Chest pain, tightness (angina)
- Fatigue, weakness
- Leg cramps on walking (peripheral artery disease)
- Sudden stroke or heart attack (in advanced cases)
Complications
- Atherosclerosis (artery blockage)
- Coronary artery disease (heart disease)
- Stroke
- Diabetic foot due to poor circulation
Homeopathic Approach
Homeopathy considers whole patient, not just cholesterol levels. Medicines are chosen based on body type, mental state, and physical complaints.
- Phosphorus – for weak circulation, nerve complaints, and chest tightness.
- Calcarea Carbonica – obese patients with craving for eggs and milk, easy sweating.
- Graphites – overweight patients with skin eruptions and constipation.
- Baryta Muriaticum – arteriosclerosis, high cholesterol with hypertension.
- Crataegus Oxyacantha (Mother tincture) – supportive in cardiac weakness, cholesterol-related heart strain.
Along with homeopathy, diet control (low oil, low sugar), regular walking, yoga, and weight management are must.
